Just A Gent
Jacob Grant appears as just your average 17-year-old old Aussie, studying in his 11th year and finding casual employment at a local toy store. Yet in 2014 alone, the young producer charmingly-dubbed Just A Gent, embarked on his debut national Australian tour hitting 11 sold-out shows around the country – earning him the hearts of his homeland and beyond.
With this massive tour behind him, his true prowess was exposed in the studio, as his breakout original ‘Sovereign’ was featured on Skrillex’s own Selects compilation garnering him the attention of fans and industry leaders worldwide. Such hype carried into his ‘Best Day of My Life’ remix from the Def Jam imprint peaking at #1 Hype Machine with over 1.6M Soundcloud plays. Just a Gent was dubbed with the honor of remixing Nick Jonas’ ‘Chains’, an epic big room rework of an instant pop classic that will be featured as a bonus track on the deluxe edition of his upcoming album. His music has also received support from dance music giants in Diplo, Dillon Francis, What So Not and more, whilst having received airplay on BBC 1Xtra, triple j and Pete Tong’s Evolution Radio.
Just A Gent’s rise from bedroom producer to future bass golden boy has been a journey of epic proportions. With pure class and forward-thinking music as his focus, he has become a select member of the Australian electronic renaissance. His rapid rise to fame earned him the title of Stoney Roads & RedBull Breakthrough Producer of the Year – solidifying his place at the forefront of modern dance music. His debut triple j Mix Up set earned the support of Nina Las Vegas, Dom Alessio, Linda Marigliano and more, including solid support on triple j Unearthed. Such support carried into his expansive 2014 remixing roster which included the likes of Zhu, The Ashton Shuffle, Madison Avenue and Tears For Fears gaining hundreds of thousands of Soundcloud plays over the past few months and the full attention of the blogosphere. Furthermore, Ultra Music Festival featured ‘Fortaque’ in its 2014 Aftermovie, a true honor given the selective nature of the tracklist.
Signed to WME North America, Just a Gent is primed and ready to bring his talents overseas. The Australian wunderkind is taking his jaw-dropping future sound on a massive global journey with his “Stories To Tell” tour, showcasing a full arsenal of future beats and bass-drenched electronic lovestep. The tour kicked off in Sydney at Chinese Laundry and will hit Toronto’s Hoxton, New York’s Slake, HARD Day of the Dead, and a slew of other high profile venues.
