New Tour Dates For The Cairos
10/4/2012Brisbane natives The Cairos released their debut EP Colours Like Features, last Friday 6th April and they hit the beaten track from April 12th.
Having previously shared stages with the likes of Julian Casablancas, The Temper Trap, The Middle East, You Am I and being asked to join Powderfinger for the Queensland dates of their farewell tour, the band are eager to head out yet again.
The next three months will see the band traipse multiple laps of our fair land on three separate tours with Bluejuice, Mutemath and Deep Sea Arcade to showcase their new EP.
Comprised of singer/guitarist Alistar Richardson, guitarist Alfio Alivuzza, drummer BC Michaels (who formed an early incarnation of the band in their mid-teens) and then Stones-loving bassist Reuben Schafer, The Cairos forged their own sound in Ali’s uncle’s warehouse out in the ’burbs of Brissy.
The band hooked up with multi-ARIA Award-winning producer Wayne Connolly (The Vines, Josh Pyke, Boy & Bear) at Albert Studios in Sydney. Colours Like Features was thus born and then treated to the magic mastering touch of Stephen Marcussen, who did the honours on albums by The Wombats, Band of Horses and Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
Having already enjoyed radio and online support and glowing print reviews (Time Off magazine: Brisbane jangle garage poppers continue to gain a reputation as a band to watch) for the first single from the EP ‘We All Buy Stars’, the follow up single ‘Shame’ is already growing the love.
The Cairos’ agenda is a very simple one: to play music for the rest of their lives and see where the journey takes them. And rest assured, you’re unlikely to hear them moaning about their lot en route. “It’s not like we have to sit in an office for 50 hours a week,” Alistar points out. “A few weeks after getting back from a tour we start getting that niggle and just want to jump in the car and go for a drive. The best times I’ll remember are the ones on the road.”
