Set to perform tomorrow night at the Prince Of Wales Hotel in Bunbury, Perth group COTERIErelease today their new single ‘In The Fire’ and announce more live shows for W.A.

‘In The Fire’ was written by all four members and recorded mostly at their home garage studio in Perth. For their fourth single, COTERIE worked alongside some of the best talent in the country – Brody Simpson on drums (tracked from Brody’s studio), Tim Fitz (from Middle Kids) on mixing and for the first time, enlisted Oscar Dawson (Holy Holy) to produce ‘In The Fire’.

Tyler says. “We’ve been recording at home in our garage for years, but this is the first time we’re releasing a home job! We had written what I think was a great rock song, driving and swirling guitars and a lyric that put you in a different time and all that, but something just wasn’t sitting right. So we wrote another version.. and another version… and another… until all we had left of the original, was the chorus. At this point we called in one of our good buddies, Oscar from Holy Holy… With his production magic and all-round experience, we birthed something we’re all pretty proud of.”

Oscar Dawson, who has produced lauded albums by Ali Barter, Alex Lahey and Holy Holy, says of ‘In The Fire’, “Really this is an emotive statement with a powerful lead vocal from Tyler Fisher. His voice speaks worlds and as soon as I heard that, I thought – what more do we need? Not a great deal; it was really building the elements around the voice that followed.

‘In The Fire’ is a testament to the songwriting and storytelling that has underpinned COTERIE’s rise through Perth’s indie and pop worlds, especially throughout the year. Described by COTERIE, ‘In The Fire’ is, “the human condition. We love when it’s too late, we appreciate once it’s gone and we desire the things that were never good for us in the first place… ‘if I’m honest I love the pain, but be honest, do we want this to breathe again’. It’s an up yours to the romanticised ideas of what could’ve been.”

As one of the year’s most exciting breakout bands, COTERIE have seen radio additions and millions of streaming plays as some of their credentials for previous singles ‘Say Goodbye’‘Salvation’ and their debut ‘Where We Began’. On the live stage, they’ve grown into Perth favourites filling easily local venue spaces such as Scarborough’s El GrottoThe Bird and Indian Ocean Hotel, with more live shows to come.
