Singer/songwriter Daniel Shaw today releases his follow-up single ‘over it’, accompanied by an intimate live performance video, where the artist takes fans into the studio with him. Having mastered the art of the happy/sad pop song, ‘over it’ is about being someone’s rock; committing to helping them through everything life throws at them.
Produced by Andy Hopkins (Cat & Carmell, Yorke, Coterie), Robby De Sa (May-a, The Veronicas, 5 Seconds of summer) and Jarrad Rogers (Charlie XCX, Lana Del Ray, Mark Ronson), Daniel says of his new single, “The song idea was written by Andy and I really felt quite connected to it, so I decided to write on it too and make it my own with the help of Jarrad. I wrote with my wife ‘Megane’ in mind, reminding her that I’ll be there for her through thick and thin.”
The live video follows Daniel’s sonic construction skills, as he builds the song from the ground up. Performing ‘over it’ on instruments including Moog, Teenage Engineer 0P1, Acoustic Piano, 808 Drum Machines and Electronic Guitar, he forms the full sounding song with a mixture of techniques and effects all while singing live in the room.
At the age of 8, Daniel began busking on the streets of Melbourne, then as a teenager took on a DIY approach and released his music independently. With over six million streams of his own music/videos, Daniel is building a strong social media presence on all platforms, in particular TikTok with approximately half a million followers. ‘over it’ is the follow-up to his wildly catchy single ‘drunk, high, low’, his first release on Island Records. With an EP set to be released early 2023, Daniel will be heading to BIGSOUND 2022 next month for 2 live performances, and no doubt more pop-up shows.
