Los Leo (aka Tom Montesi) is a South Australian, multi-instrumentalist taking his intimate music from his bedroom to the world. His music has received spins from triple j and garnered praise from national tastemakers Pilerats and Acid Stag. Last July, he embarked on a sold-out national tour supporting US synth-pop group LANY. It’s an impressive feat for a project that started in one of Australia’s smallest states. Limited resources, however, have been a blessing in disguise for Montesi. “Most of the time it’s been me in my room trying to do a bit of everything,” he says. “I think if you can create something from nothing, it’s a lot more creatively rewarding than if you can create something from everything.
Today he shares his LOW KEY – VOL 2 EP.
Featuring re-worked versions of his recently released Double A side – See You Again/Full Circles, the EP also features 2 new songs – the focus track TAKE SIGHT and MAYBE.
SEE YOU AGAIN – LOW KEY
I’m finding myself in a lot of co-writing session these days. I wouldn’t say it comes to me naturally, being that by nature I’m more of an introvert and most of my life I have been writing music by myself in my bedroom. But occasionally it’s fun to throw someone from a different world into the writing room as a catalyst, just to see what comes out. This time it worked, I teamed up with young RNB artist Clarissa Mei. The song has had a lot of different versions since that day.. and this is one of them.
FULL CIRCLE – LOW KEY
This song is a nod to my past and my younger years, the song was written with some of my lifelong friends in a beautiful studio in the Adelaide Hills.
TAKE SIGHT – LOW KEY
Occasionally in life a personal crisis will come along and act as a palate cleanser on what is truly important in life, sometimes the hardest part is just staying positive in hard times.
MAYBE– LOW KEY
Sometimes I feel like relationships can be a bit of a paradoxical. Being that the closer you get to someone and the more your relationship grows, the more you realise how different you really are.
