Polish Club Drop ‘Unstable’ Single + Video; Natonal Tour In April With More Tickets Added 🌴

The Polish Club train keeps on rolling, with their new single ‘Unstable’ out today and ready to rock your socks off. The Sydney duo have dropped 3 minutes and 51 seconds of mid-tempo rock just in time for their upcoming National Tour in April. With covid restrictions lifted across most of the country, additonal tickets have now gone onsale for the East Coast shows.

Songwriters John-Henry Pajak and David Novak don’t see the point in stopping. If they stop doing it, they might never start again. The pair ceaselessly have songs and ideas to pull out and brute force into releases. It has long been the case and so it remains for this new track; a stable flow of songwriting leading them to recording ‘Unstable’ with long-time producer Wade Keighran.

It was a no brainer for Novak, “We found ourselves not wanting to stop the momentum after our last record. We couldn’t tour, and we had so many good songs left unfinished. So there was zero hesitation when it came to deciding to regroup with Wade in the studio and just punch out some rock songs.”
Having only used 10 of their 100 or so ideas and demos cooked up in 2021 for their third LP Now We’re Cookin’ which debuted at #8 on the ARIA charts, Polish Club ran straight back to the studio late last year to make the most of the ones that got away. Recorded in Sydney at Marrickville’s Golden Retriever, ‘Unstable’ features almost as many players as it does chords. With the status quo of Novak and vocals and lead guitar, plus JH on drums, the song is the first of theirs to feature a full live band, Keighran playing bass and Dan Cunningham on guitar.

To celebrate the fact that Polish Club’s new single has a proper guitar solo in it (the short, sweet, bendy kind, not the long-winded, shreddy kind), they have enlisted the talents of Billy Zammit (DMA’s, Cxloe, Splendour In The Grass, Adidas) to capture the occasion with a classic performance music video for ‘Unstable’. Zammit worked with Pajak to draw creative influence from Pink Floyd, AC/DC, Thin Lizzies performance videos with DMX triggered lighting and diverse camera compositions.

The timeless inspiration was simple to grasp for Zammit, “There wasn’t a creative deck necessary for this one as it was capturing an ‘era’ and ‘rock classic’ music video genre. The furthest creative was the shot choice and lighting design – but no physical treatment.” The clip features their somewhat new recording and touring lineup of Keighran and Cunningham, and comes complete with moody lights, black clothes, and more sweat and hair than ever.

Speaking of Wade and Dan, the two will be sticking with the duo for their upcoming Now We’re Tourin’national tour in April. Originally slated to happen what feels like 20 years ago in mid 2021, the boys will finally, for real this time, be hitting the road from April 1, playing in Gold Coast, Brisbane, Newcastle, Wollongong, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth, Torquay and Melbourne. Touring nationally for the first time as a four-piece, the band will have no shortage of new songs to play live, finally being able to play cuts from their 2021 LP Now We’re Cookin’ including the #124 Hottest 100 charting ‘Stop For A Minute’. Joining the four-piece for all dates is Melbourne’s own bundle of rock energy Press Club.

In the midst of this long-overdue tour are two more sold out dates with the OG Wiggles at Rod Laver Arena on March 12 and Adelaide Entertainment Centre on May 7, as well as an appearance with The Living End at Sydney’s Meatstock on May 6. The Wiggles shows coincide with Polish Club’s appearance on Rewiggled, out March 11, on which the duo cover Wiggles classic ‘Apples and Bananas’.

So hop on board with Polish Club. The train may be unstable as hell, but it ain’t stopping.
